It's been a while

Since I've written a post, lots of things have happened since my last post. Tobias is all moved to Alabama, while I am still in Texas missing him and two of our dogs like crazy. I started my new job and so far so good, I'm really liking it and it leaves me with a lot of free time to do the other things I need to do.

I'm planning a trip to Alabama to go visit before I have to start school in fall, once I start school I wont have any time to go visit since school will take up the majority of my week. I'm both excited and a little scared for the start of school. This will be the first time in years that I return to school as a full time student. I hope to do well.
After I finish fall semester I'm hoping to be able to move up to Alabama and finish the remainder of my classes there. By that time I should have my certificate and be able to be an actual Funeral Director!

Tobias will be visiting for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and I can't wait! I have to say that Thanksgiving and Christmas have to be 2 of my favorite holidays, good food, great family, awesome conversation, it's just a lot of fun.
Tobias has been very busy with residency, and though its been hard, I'm thankful for the opportunities we have both been given. It is a true blessing how far we have both come and the opportunities that continue to arise for us.

In other news, Tobias and I have recently gotten engaged! I couldn't be happier and I'm so lucky to know that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. He has truly been a blessing in my life. We haven't set a solid date yet so stay tuned for that.
Lots of exciting things happening in our lives, I can't wait to see what else is in store for us!

4 YEARS!

Lets just say I am a horrible girlfriend and have barely had a chance to get to this post.

About 2 weeks ago we celebrated our 4 year anniversary! I could barely believe it myself. Though really when I think about it, it doesnt seem that long at all.

I have to say it has been a lovely 4 years, and though we have our ups and downs I really do think we have more ups than downs.

I can't believe how unbelievably lucky I am to have met the love of my life let alone how lucky I am to have been able to spend 4 years with him and hopefully many more. I literally think this man was made for me, and I for him.

So as a token of my appreciation and love for my love I'd like to share some of my favorite things about him.

1. Your determination, to not only finish a job, but to ensure that it is a job well done. No half assing here!

2. Your hands, believe it or not, they are one of my favorite things about you.

3. Your love for animals, this really makes me love you so much more than I already do.

4. Your smile, its just awesome!

5. Your faith in me, it helps me to believe in myself.

6. Your giving nature, you do everything you can to give me what I want, and I know you feel awful when you can't.

7. You think I'm funny, even if I'm really not. :)

8. You get me in a way no one ever has.

9. You love my family, and they love you!

10. You give great advice, I know I can always come to you and you will have a solution.

11. Your strength and how we can switch rolls so quickly in order to be each other's rock.

12. Your intelligence, I can only wish and hope to ever be as smart as you.

13. Your patience, especially with me, I know I can tend to push it.

14. Your my soul mate

But most of all I love you because you are you and when I look into your eyes, I see all the love you have for me and more. I wouldn't want to spend my life with any other person on this earth, I am truly the luckiest girl in the world to have someone like you!

HAPPY ANNIVERSAY MY LOVE!

Thoughts and Prayers

Go out to all affected by tornadoes and other bad weather in Alabama and the surrounding areas. Our hearts go out to all families that have lost loved ones.

Inspection, job news and school.

So our inspection on the house has been done, and nothing major was found. Just a couple of small things that the seller has agreed to fix. So that was great news!

The sellers also agreed, as that was part of the negotiating in price, to put up a fence in the back yard for our spoiled babies. We found out that the home owner's association has approved the fence so that should be taken care of shortly as well! I cant wait to see it when it is complete!

I also got a call today about the job, they are currently in the process of figuring out the salary for me so they needed some info on my past jobs in order to do so. Hopefully they offer me a decent enough salary that allows me to pay my bills and save a little on the side.

Registration for summer classes has already begun and unfortunately they are not offering intership I in San Antonio. I was a bit disappointed, but such is life. I've looked to see if there are any other classes that I need to check off my list being offered, but unfortunately no such luck. I may have to look into another school that offers at least one class that I need. I dont want to be farther behind than I have to. I looked at my degree plan today and I need 8 more classes in order to graduate. That's not including the exam I have to take after I graduate. I was hoping to at least be able to take 2 classes that I needed this summer but right now it's not looking good. I wanted to be done with school and graduated by December but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Disappointing? Very, but I will get there sooner or later.

Exciting news!

I found out Friday afternoon that I got the job! I am so utterly excited! I'm even more excited that they seemed to like me so much (or maybe they looked past?) the fact that my tootsies were killing me that day. Maybe I played it off that well?

Interview

So I interviewed earlier this week for a job back in San Antonio. I think the interview went well and I hope I am right on the money about that because the job is pretty sweet and will work out for my current needs and schedule. Its a part time job weekends only, but it provides benefits, at a cost but for a part time job, thats nearly unheard of!

The director let me know that they would be finishing up interviews Wednesday and that they would more than likely be calling next week to let people know whats what.

So anyways heres how things went that day, I got all jazzed up for this interview, pulled out my suit, and everything. I decided that I was going to wear some heels, nothing too high, just a small heel. Well for those of you who know I just had ankle surgery (for the second time) back in December so my foot and ankle still get pretty swollen. I figured, I dont know why, that the interview wouldnt be more than 45 minutes or so so I should be ok with the heels.

Ok so I get to the place, put my heels on start to walking. Oh I forgot to mention that a couple of weeks ago I slammed my pinky toe into the door frame and since then its been swollen, painful and just not pleasant to look at, I really think its broken, but really what can you do with a broken toe.

So as I'm walking all I'm thinking is man, I am in some unbelievable pain here, my toe was killing me! This is the part where I'm giving myself the pep talk, its only gonna be for a couple of minutes, you probably arent going to do much walking once the interview starts, then you can take these heels off and chunk them in the nearest garbage can!

I get to the area I need to be in and I am greeted and asked to sit (thank you jesus!)

I wait a while, then I'm taken to the back to interview, where I sit again, I'm thinking ok, sweet I'll interview then be out of here in a couple of minutes and as soon as I hit those doors that lead to the outside world I'm taking these shoes off!

45 minutes passes and I'm done! I'm thinking yes! Interview went well, and I can get these torture devices off my feet! They ask if I wouldn't mind taking a seat out front for a minute while they conversed. I tell them I dont mind and make my way up to the front.

Couple more minutes past and one of them come out and ask me if I mind taking a test, by this time I'm thinking ok, I'm not gonna get these puppies off within the next 10 minutes. I tell her of course I'd love to take the test, she asks me to follow her so I do and she drags me clear across the campus! I thought I was going to die! By this time my toe is pulsating through my shoe as if there is a minature heart in it! We get to the office where she is going to administer the test and she says, "Whoops, I forgot the key!" I have never in my life wanted to kill someone so much as I wanted to then. So we go back across campus, pick up the key and go back across once more to the office. By this time I cant even feel my toe, heck I can't feel my feet. They had literally gone numb...

I take the test, I'm done in about 30 minutes, she tells me I passed and I'm like great! I can finally get outta here! Then she asks me if I can meet with one other person, so I'm thinking heck why not I cant feel anything from my ankle down. We walk back across campus to the director's office. We chat, then I finally get out of there a little over 2 hours later.

At this point I am practically running out of the door. I finally get to my car and I look down at my feet mind you I still have the heels on and my feet are just pouring out of my heels! Literally looks like I shoved 2 elephant feet into a pair of heels! I rip the shoes off and they are swollen to maximum capacity! I no longer have a right ankle, it has swollen to a cankle and my pinky toe is humungous! So I wiggle my feel around try to get the blood flowing again and drive home. By the time I got home the swelling had gone down significantly but the funny thing is my pinky toe no longer hurt. Yet it looked nasty! Swollen, bruised, etc, but no pain. This freaked me out, Tobias looked at it and said it was odd that it didnt hurt being that it looked really painful. It's been 4 days since then and it still looks painful, but it doesnt hurt! I'm not sure whether that is a good thing or not. I'm keeping an eye on it.

As for the job, well I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm really hoping I will soon, cross your fingers! And now for your viewing pleasure, my toe! This photo was taken when I originally hurt it, now imaging it looking about 2 times more swollen and having a bump out the side. YIKES!

House Hunting

Its been a long couple of days.... On Wednesday we made our first trip together down to Birmingham, Alabama. Let me tell you it was a LONG drive. We left the house around 2 or 3pm Wednesday and we arrived in Birmingham at about 8am on Thursday. It really should not have taken that long to get there but we ran into traffic and construction work before leaving Texas. Once we got to Birmingham we checked into our hotel took a 2 hour nap and were up by 10am, waiting for our realtor to pick us up at our hotel to begin house hunting. This was our first time meeting our realtor and she was really nice. The first house we looked at was in the Crestwood area, it was HORRID! Little did we know it was a bit of a lesson. Yes, yes you get what you pay for. After that we saw about 10 houses all in either in the Crestwood or Bluffview area. We fell in love with a house in the Crestwood area and I was ready to end our search right there and then! Tobias convinced me otherwise. We ended our house hunting that day at around 3pm we were spent and ready to head back to the hotel to nap. After napping we returned to the house that we really liked, we wanted to see what the neighborhood was like at night, it was pretty quiet, after that we grabbed a bite to eat, headed back to the hotel and went to bed! Friday we were up by 8am, our realtor picked us up at 9am and the house hunting continued. This day she was going to take us to see some newer construction as the day before the homes we saw were pretty much built in the 50's-60's. I was still ready to end the search, I was convinced that we had found our home the day before. That is until we ended up at our first house of the day. It was a newer house built in 2002, in the Fultondale area. It just so happens that this was one of the first housed that our realtor had sent me in an email and I immediately shot it down for 2 reasons, I felt the neighboring houses were too close, and there was no back yard. Upon entering both Tobias and I were just stunned, it was beautiful, it looked so new and clean, it was immaculate, the rooms were so much bigger than any of the homes we had seen the day before and the living area was open to the kitchen which I love. The only thing that was holding me back was the lack of fencing in the back yard. Upon discussing this with our realtor she said she was almost sure that she could take care of this. After going through the house several times, we finally left our realtor showed us a couple of more houses but this time we knew were were done. We let her know that we had made our choice. We wanted the house in Fultondale. So long story short we end up back at the realtors office, we make an offer to include a fence and that the seller pay closing costs, while we wait for a reply Tobias and I went to grab a bite to eat, by the time we went back to the office our realtor told us that the sellers had accepted our offer! We were so excited, Tobias immediatley set up the inspection for the house, signed some papers and we went back to our hotel. Later that night we visited the neighborhood to check it out. It seemed pretty peaceful. After that we went grabbed a bite to eat, drove around a bit, went back to the hotel and went to bed. We woke up at about 10am on Saturday and started packing up so we could get ready to leave. We ended up leaving before 11, we stopped by the house once more before we left. The ride back home was so much better, I drove through all 3 states(Alabama, Mississippi, and Lousiana) and Tobias took over once we hit Texas. We ended up getting home at about 4am on Sunday. I had found out while we were in Alabama that I was being considered for a job opening I applied for, so I set up an interview for Monday at 11am. So once we got home Sunday, I slept for a couple of hours woke up and then hit the road again! So exhausting, anyways my interview experience will wait for another post. for now I'll share some pics of our new house! Loved this house! Wish we could keep all the furniture too!
