So I interviewed earlier this week for a job back in San Antonio. I think the interview went well and I hope I am right on the money about that because the job is pretty sweet and will work out for my current needs and schedule. Its a part time job weekends only, but it provides benefits, at a cost but for a part time job, thats nearly unheard of!
The director let me know that they would be finishing up interviews Wednesday and that they would more than likely be calling next week to let people know whats what.
So anyways heres how things went that day, I got all jazzed up for this interview, pulled out my suit, and everything. I decided that I was going to wear some heels, nothing too high, just a small heel. Well for those of you who know I just had ankle surgery (for the second time) back in December so my foot and ankle still get pretty swollen. I figured, I dont know why, that the interview wouldnt be more than 45 minutes or so so I should be ok with the heels.
Ok so I get to the place, put my heels on start to walking. Oh I forgot to mention that a couple of weeks ago I slammed my pinky toe into the door frame and since then its been swollen, painful and just not pleasant to look at, I really think its broken, but really what can you do with a broken toe.
So as I'm walking all I'm thinking is man, I am in some unbelievable pain here, my toe was killing me! This is the part where I'm giving myself the pep talk, its only gonna be for a couple of minutes, you probably arent going to do much walking once the interview starts, then you can take these heels off and chunk them in the nearest garbage can!
I get to the area I need to be in and I am greeted and asked to sit (thank you jesus!)
I wait a while, then I'm taken to the back to interview, where I sit again, I'm thinking ok, sweet I'll interview then be out of here in a couple of minutes and as soon as I hit those doors that lead to the outside world I'm taking these shoes off!
45 minutes passes and I'm done! I'm thinking yes! Interview went well, and I can get these torture devices off my feet! They ask if I wouldn't mind taking a seat out front for a minute while they conversed. I tell them I dont mind and make my way up to the front.
Couple more minutes past and one of them come out and ask me if I mind taking a test, by this time I'm thinking ok, I'm not gonna get these puppies off within the next 10 minutes. I tell her of course I'd love to take the test, she asks me to follow her so I do and she drags me clear across the campus! I thought I was going to die! By this time my toe is pulsating through my shoe as if there is a minature heart in it! We get to the office where she is going to administer the test and she says, "Whoops, I forgot the key!" I have never in my life wanted to kill someone so much as I wanted to then. So we go back across campus, pick up the key and go back across once more to the office. By this time I cant even feel my toe, heck I can't feel my feet. They had literally gone numb...
I take the test, I'm done in about 30 minutes, she tells me I passed and I'm like great! I can finally get outta here! Then she asks me if I can meet with one other person, so I'm thinking heck why not I cant feel anything from my ankle down. We walk back across campus to the director's office. We chat, then I finally get out of there a little over 2 hours later.
At this point I am practically running out of the door. I finally get to my car and I look down at my feet mind you I still have the heels on and my feet are just pouring out of my heels! Literally looks like I shoved 2 elephant feet into a pair of heels! I rip the shoes off and they are swollen to maximum capacity! I no longer have a right ankle, it has swollen to a cankle and my pinky toe is humungous! So I wiggle my feel around try to get the blood flowing again and drive home. By the time I got home the swelling had gone down significantly but the funny thing is my pinky toe no longer hurt. Yet it looked nasty! Swollen, bruised, etc, but no pain. This freaked me out, Tobias looked at it and said it was odd that it didnt hurt being that it looked really painful. It's been 4 days since then and it still looks painful, but it doesnt hurt! I'm not sure whether that is a good thing or not. I'm keeping an eye on it.
As for the job, well I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm really hoping I will soon, cross your fingers! And now for your viewing pleasure, my toe! This photo was taken when I originally hurt it, now imaging it looking about 2 times more swollen and having a bump out the side. YIKES!
